Billboard in the basement

Why you’re ignoring the obvious solution

Hi,

It’s Ishaan.

I walked past a local restaurant the other day. The place looked incredible—dim lighting, leather booths, that "expensive" smell.

The food? Unreal. But the dining room? Completely empty.

I checked my phone to see their reviews. It took me three minutes just to find their listing. Their "pin" on Google Maps was actually three blocks away, stuck in the middle of a residential park.

Essentially, they were invisible.

The Invisible Storefront

I see this with clients all the time.

They spend $10,000 on a sleek website. They hire photographers. They have a kaleidoscope of features and "About Us" pages that look like art galleries.

But when a local customer searches for what they do? Nothing.

They are running a world-class business... but they’ve placed their billboard in a basement.

Stop Rearranging the Furniture

If your store is in the middle of a forest and nobody has a map, your first priority shouldn't be:

  • Polishing the front door.

  • Updating the "Meet the Team" page.

  • Changing the font on your business cards.

Your only priority is building a road.

In 2026, that "road" is the first page of Google. If you aren't on the Map pack or the top of page one, you don't exist to the person with their credit card out right now.

We spent the last month moving a client from page three to the #1 spot on Google Maps. We didn't change their logo. We didn't rewrite their "Mission Statement."

We just turned the sign to face the street.

The result? Their phone started ringing so much they had to hire a new receptionist.

The solution is usually simpler than we want to admit.

Talk soon,

Ishaan
